Marian Dobrilă
Managing Partner
TDP Partners
Marian Dobrilă has built his career around the financing and development of complex projects, bringing 25 years of experience across finance, banking, M&A and project management. He is a member of the Board of the Romanian Wind Energy Association (RWEA), which represents more than 80% of Romania’s installed wind capacity.
As Managing Partner of TDP Partners, Dobrilă advises investors and developers on energy investment and financing. His experience has evolved from structuring capital for renewable generation to addressing one of the market’s central challenges, how to convert intermittent generation into reliable and competitively priced power for industry, digital infrastructure and other large energy consumers.
He has also pioneered Power-to-Data, Power-to-Food and Power-to-X pilot projects in Romania, exploring new applications for renewable electricity in digital infrastructure, food production and alternative fuels.
Dobrilă has helped structure and secure more than €1 billion in approved financing for renewable energy, battery storage and hydrogen projects. TDP Partners has advised 38% of Romania’s BESS projects financed through state-aid schemes, 20% of the renewable generation projects supported by the Modernisation Fund and 16% of the hydrogen projects financed under the country’s Recovery and Resilience Plan.
His expertise spans project finance, state aid, CfDs, PPAs and investment-grade financial modelling. This includes particular depth in battery storage, where he has been closely involved in developing financing and revenue models that assess how price volatility, market saturation and grid constraints affect bankability and investment returns.
Data centres have become an important part of this broader energy and investment perspective. Dobrilă analyses how power availability, grid access, storage and long-term energy contracting shape the investment case for digital infrastructure in Romania. He sees data centres as more than a new source of electricity demand, with the potential to connect energy investment, technological development and industrial growth.
His perspective extends beyond how much new capacity Romania can build to how that electricity can be stored, contracted and put to productive use. For Dobrilă, this is where much of the economic value of the next phase of the energy transition will be determined.
